Its use supports the development of oral iron preparations designed for effective iron supplementation and improved nutritional iron intake.

1 Appearance It occurs as brown to deep brown coloured free flowing powder.
2 Identification
Test (A)
(A) It gives reaction of iron and maltose.
3 Solubility Not less than 5g sample dissolved in 100ml water.
4 PH Between 5.5 to 7.5.
5 Loss on Drying (at 105°C for 4 hrs.) Not more than 8.0% w/w
6 Arsenic Not more than 3.0 ppm.
7 Heavy Metals (as Lead) Not more than 10.0 ppm.
8 Copper Not more than 60.0 ppm.
9 Zinc Not more than 150.0 ppm.
10 Free Iron should be absent.
11 Chloride (On Dried Basis) Not more than 3.0% w/w.
12 Carbohydrates (Polymaltose) (On Dried Basis) Not less than 25.0% and not more than 50.0% w/w.
13 Assay For Elemental Iron (On Dried Basis) Not less than 26.0% and not more than 36.0% w/w.

PACKAGING

MOLHYDROX® IPC is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 5 years. Preserved in tight containers.
